READING TIME: 1 Minute For years, my passion has been helping others heal and witness their incredible transformations. As someone with a background in psychology, my initial drive, like many, was to better understand myself. While serving full-time in mental health was deeply rewarding, life eventually guided me to "take a break" – a necessary pause to fully focus on my own deeper healing and self-discovery. This period was transformative. It allowed me to prioritize personal growth, explore new avenues (like building a career in real estate that offered flexibility), and intentionally create space for my well-being alongside raising my family. It was in this continuous self-work that the concept of Something Empowering truly took root. This new online space is designed for you – whether you're seeking balance, relaxation, profound healing, or simply hope to move forward. At Something Empowering, you'll find everything you need: from practical mindfulness exercises and positive affirmations to effective tips for managing stress and promoting emotional healing. Life inevitably brings challenges, and no one is immune to stressful moments. It's precisely in these times that having reliable support and empowering tools becomes essential – a reminder of the incredible strength you already possess. I'm thrilled to share this passion project with you. Explore the resources at www.somethingempowering.com and be sure to connect with us on social media for daily inspiration and insights!

My Path to Becoming a Sound Healer PractitionerREADING TIME: 3 Minutes Becoming a sound bath practitioner holds a special place in my heart. During my Marriage and Family Therapy internship (many moons ago), I had the incredible opportunity to work at a holistic, trauma-focused center in Miami. That experience introduced me to a wide range of holistic approaches, and as I explored them, I witnessed firsthand how powerful and transformative they could be on the healing journey. I felt called to go deeper—not only to experience these practices for myself, but also to learn how to support others through them. Among all the methods I encountered, sound bowls captivated me the most. During this time, the holistic center offered group sound bath sessions twice a month, open to clients and community members. As interns, we were always encouraged to participate and immerse ourselves in the practices whenever possible. Now, I must confess that my first sound bath left me with a massive headache that lasted two days. The practitioner had mentioned this could happen and advised drinking plenty of water. At the time, I didn’t realize the frequencies were working to align my third eye chakra. Despite the discomfort, I slept incredibly well afterward—something I’d struggled with for years due to vivid dreams and trauma-related nightmares. Although I didn’t love the headache, I began researching the benefits: better sleep, chakra alignment, reduced anxiety and depression, and even PTSD support. Convinced by the strange but amazing results, I returned two weeks later. That second session was different; no headache this time. Instead, I felt small electric shocks on my fingertips when I touched certain objects. It wasn’t unpleasant, just unexpected. And despite the variety of sensations, I always left feeling a deep sense of peace that lingered for days. Later, I learned my body was releasing stored energy and coming into better alignment. How Sound Baths WorkOur bodies are made up mostly of water, which means they respond deeply to sound vibrations. During a sound bath, the practitioner plays metal or crystal quartz bowls, each producing a unique vibration when activated with a mallet. Just like each bowl has its frequency, so does each part of our body—your heart, brain, belly, and more. The goal of a sound bath is to allow the vibrations from the bowls to interact with your body’s natural frequencies, gently guiding areas that are out of balance back into harmony. The result? Deep relaxation—or, in my husband’s case, a nap every time! Becoming a PractitionerAs I became more fascinated by the healing power of sound, the director of the holistic center where I was interning noticed my interest. She graciously took the time to teach me the basics. I enjoyed it so much that I began researching more about the incredible effects vibrations and frequencies have on the body, mind, and spirit. Eventually, when the original facilitator moved on, the director invited me to take over the sessions, once I had grown comfortable with the crystal quartz bowls. I began offering sound baths twice a month at the center—one on the new moon to invite new beginnings, and one on the full moon to release what no longer served us. It became a beautiful part of my clinical work. Even after transitioning into private practice as an Energy Healer, I continued offering sessions to both staff and clients from time to time. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching others the art of sound healing—including my kids! I still host occasional live sessions at local yoga studios, incorporate sound baths into my 1:1 energy healing work, and use them in my wellness routine at least twice a week.
